The Future of Bridging

The multichain landscape may consolidate around shared security and native interoperability, or it may stay fragmented with faster but trustier shortcuts. Both futures keep bridges relevant — either as invisible infrastructure or as explicit risk points users must judge.

Based rollups and shared sequencing tie multiple L2s to Ethereum validators more directly, shrinking the trust gap between layers. Restaking proposals offer pooled security for light clients and messaging networks — powerful if incentives hold, dangerous if slashing and governance lag behind marketing.

Until those designs are default, bridges remain unavoidable and structurally riskier than base layers. The skill this course builds — reading custody, verification, and failure modes — stays useful no matter which future wins.
