Chapter 10

ZK Identity and Credentials

ZK identity lets users prove facts about themselves without uploading passports, credit scores, or social graphs to a blockchain. Verifiers learn only what the proof authorizes — nothing more.

Sybil resistance for airdrops, governance, and UBI requires proving one-person-one-vote without centralized ID databases. World ID, Gitcoin Passport, and similar systems combine biometrics or social graphs with ZK credentials users can reuse across apps.

Designs add nullifiers to prevent double-spending credentials and optional disclosure to authorities. Expect credentials with revocation lists and compliance hooks as the identity stack matures.
