Chapter 16

Your First DeFi Moves

The first steps in DeFi should optimize for learning, not for speed. New users are usually better served by small experiments that reveal how wallets, approvals, gas, and interfaces actually behave.

A calm routine matters because most preventable losses happen before advanced strategy even begins. Simple operational habits reduce the chance of turning curiosity into an expensive mistake.

Starting small gives you real experience without putting much capital at risk. It also reveals hidden friction such as bridge delays, unexpected fees, or confusing approval prompts before those issues matter more.

Over time, the goal is to make verification automatic. Users who check contracts, review permissions, and increase size gradually are far less likely to be punished by haste, imitation sites, or sloppy wallet hygiene.
