Chapter 11
Security and Scams
NFT users face the same wallet risks as the rest of crypto, but with extra social engineering layered on top. Scams often target urgency, status, and curiosity: a rare mint, a surprise airdrop, or a message that looks like exclusive access.
Good security habits are less about memorizing every scam and more about spotting patterns. If a link pressures you to act fast, asks for broad approvals, or feels oddly hidden, that is usually the warning itself.
Separate wallets also help. Many collectors keep a hot wallet for experiments and a safer wallet for high-value assets, reducing the blast radius if one interaction turns out to be malicious.
The broader principle is simple: NFTs may look cultural and playful, but the wallet actions behind them are financial operations. That means caution matters more than polish, hype, or social proof.
