Chapter 11

Whale and Smart Money Tracking

Whales — large holders and funds — move markets when they act. Tracking labeled smart money and treasury wallets is a common retail and fund strategy, with obvious limits.

Platforms tag wallets with profitable historical trading — smart money entering a token moves sentiment. Survivorship bias applies; past winners fail too. Do not treat labels as a copy-trade oracle.

Whales split across addresses, use OTC desks, and move via bridges. Public alerts are late relative to insiders. On-chain transparency helps but does not eliminate information asymmetry.
