Chapter 1

Welcome to Web3

Web3 starts with a simple shift: the internet can do more than show pages or host feeds. It can also let you hold assets and identity directly, without asking a platform to keep them on your behalf.

People summarize that shift as read, write, own. You can still browse and post, but now a wallet can also prove what you control across apps.

This is why wallets matter so much in Web3. They are not just login tools; they are how you prove control and move value.

The rest of the course breaks that idea into parts: how the web evolved, what blockchains add, and where ownership is useful in practice.
