Chapter 3
In-Game NFT Assets
In-game NFTs represent characters, weapons, skins, land, and collectibles on chain. Unlike traditional items locked in company databases, NFTs can be traded on open marketplaces — in theory portable across games.
ERC-721 suits unique items; ERC-1155 handles semi-fungible stacks like consumables and ammo. Games must honor metadata off chain — the NFT proves you own something, not that every title will render it.
If a game shuts down, NFTs may have no utility left. Metadata on centralized servers can change or disappear. Reselling can recover some spend if you quit — but market volatility and scam listings are real risks.
