Chapter 11

Security and Scams in GameFi

GameFi attracts scammers — fake mint sites, phishing airdrops, compromised bridge contracts, and rug pulls on game tokens. Players often new to crypto make easy targets.

Treat unsolicited free mints as phishing until proven otherwise. A separate gaming wallet limits damage if one key is compromised — never reuse the wallet that holds long-term savings.

Studios owe audits, multisig treasuries, fast breach communication, and clear player education. Do not store more value on chain than gameplay requires; concentrated gaming-chain TVL becomes a honeypot for attackers.
