Chapter 3

Seed Phrases

Modern wallets do not ask you to back up a raw private key. They generate a seed phrase — usually 12 or 24 words from the BIP-39 word list — that can recreate every account the wallet will ever derive.

That phrase is the master secret. Anyone who reads it can rebuild your keys on any compatible wallet. Write it down offline, never store it in cloud notes or photos, and never share it with anyone claiming to be support.

When you restore a wallet, you are not importing a balance — you are re-deriving the keys that prove ownership on-chain. If the phrase is correct, every address and asset tied to it reappears.
